This was a personal passion project for the show on FX: Sons Of Anarchy. It is a show that I just finished “binge-watching”, so I felt like I could really dig in deep when it came to some of the concepts behind this poster. For this particular poster concept, I wanted to show Season 1 all in one scene together on a poster. I was inspired by Ty Mattson’s “Dexter” poster series, with not only the idea, but the graphic icon, monochromatic style as well. (*Spoiler Alert!*) I focused on Jax, the main character who goes through a lot of hard times. In the beginning of the season, his pregnant wife, Wendy, self-overdoses on heroin. She is forced to have a C-section, and premature newborn Abel is fighting for his life in an incubator, and stays that way for the majority of the season. Pictured on the poster is Abel in the incubator, with Jax on the motorcycle, light beaming towards him. This is showing that no matter what Jax goes through, where he goes, he is always 100% focused on Abel and his recovery. Another scene pictured is the pickup truck with the broken window glass. This is narrating when Opie’s wife Donna is shot and killed by mistake. She was driving and the headlights were just glaring into the darkness as she lie there with a fatal gunshot wound to the head. It was a very sad part of the show and effects the club a lot. Jax also reconnects with an old high school sweetheart, Tara. She is a surgeon and saves not only Abel, but many other crew members throughout the season. There is all of that and more for Season 1, Sons of Anarchy pictured on this poster, and I hope to have a series of all 7 completed someday.
